Hadley church helps Sandy victims

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - A Church in Hadley is on a disaster relief mission helping Hurricane Sandy victims.

They came from Hampden and Ludlow to help Hurricane Sandy victims in New York and New Jersey. Parishioners at the Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley began their drive last week.

Maxine Mazur of Ludlow told 22News, western Massachusetts people know what the hurricane victims are going through. ?We were cold for a week last year, when we had a bad storm. We were pretty miserable. It wasn't four weeks and our homes weren't destroyed. People just need help, it's cold and it's just the right thing to do.?

Debbie Hearn and her husband came from the town of Hampden with a carload of what they hope will fill the need for hurricane victims. ?Coats, books, baby clothes, from my daughter, a big bag of things, blankets, pocketbooks, stuff like that.?

Once these trucks are filled, a moving company driver will deliver the contents on Sunday to those in need. Western Massachusetts continues giving to those who've suffered so much.
