The Cavendish Chronicles: Family Party Day

We had a big weekend full of celebrations for our little man. ?We decided to have a bunch of little family celebrations for him instead of a big party. ?I think he enjoyed that just as much. ?His sister spoiled him rotten, which is always one of his favourite things. ?She made him this card (above). ?It was her idea to put shamrocks on it. ?She asked me to cut a sponge into a heart shape, and she stamped out the shamrocks. ?Creative little lady.
We decided to take the kids to the sugarbush on Saturday morning, thinking that would be something they'd enjoy. ?Bronte Creek park has a Maple Syrup Festival, which I'd heard good things about. ?It was pretty cold but we were bundled and it started out pretty well...
Lachlan loved the fact that we were on a "farm" and sang "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" almost the whole time.

They had wagon rides to a pancake breakfast. ?There was a bit of a line, but not too bad...

We got the "family platter" of pancakes, sausages and bacon...but when we arrived in the eating area, there weren't any seats!!! ?There were quite a few empty picnic tables outside. ?It quickly became evident why they were empty - it was -14 with the windchill that morning!

We were freezing!! ?Amelia was hilarious - she said "this place is CRAZY! ?Why do they make you eat outside in the COLD??". ?Ha! ?She was right. ?Lachlan didn't seem to mind and ate up his sausage and pancake like a champ.
The poor kids were pretty spent by the time we came home. ?Wagon riding back to our car:
It took us a little while to warm up once we came home...
Amelia thought it would be a good idea to go somewhere "fancy" for dinner, to celebrate her bro's birthday. ?Her selection: Swiss Chalet. ?On her request, we all "dressed up" :-)
Lachlan is dressed up if he wears a collar. ?He is always very casual :-)

The kids did really well at the restaurant. ?We hardly ever?eat out, but they ate a lot and were pretty well-behaved. ?Well, aside from Lachlan throwing one of his cars across the aisle onto some poor lady's shoe. ?Luckily she wasn't too upset :-)
We had a yummy cake back at home. ?I think Lachlan was getting more accustomed to people singing Happy Birthday to him at this point :-)

It was a really nice family celebration! ?We had a busy day on Sunday since it was Lachlan's actual birthday. ?As always, more pics to follow tomorrow :-) ?I still can't believe my baby is TWO!!
