McCain Goes After NBC Host For Questioning GOP?s Benghazi Conspiracy Theories

and American ambassadors were meeting at the American CONSULATE in Benghazi when Tripoli is the capital of Libya and surely the EMBASSIES were in Tripoli not in Benghazi. Was it just to accommodate someone's vacation plans? That seems a bit absurd since it looks like our ambassador traveled to that consulate for some reason possibly associated with his meeting with the Turkish ambassador. Some have suggested an exchange of prisoners or something. What really happened?

I don't think this was the scandal that the Republicans want us to think it is, but we should be told the whole truth, and I don't think that is the case.

Also, I think that our ambassador to the United Nations should have been better informed.

But Hillary Clinton and Obama announced in their first remarks on the day after the attack that it was a heavily armed attack. There was confusion in the minds of those who followed the announcements carefully about whether the attack in Benghazi was, like attacks elsewhere, associated with protests against the inflammatory film.

That was not, in my opinion, intentional. And we were shown video of the events at the consulate which left no doubt that the attackers had at least one big gun and were very well organized.

The only reason the Republicans did not know it was an attack was because they weren't listening to the statements of Clinton and Obama on the day after the attack and they did not watch the video when it became available shortly after the attack.

It is very sad that our ambassador was assassinated, but this is a lot of noise over nothing. And this is nothing comparable to the attack on our Beirut Embassy during the Reagan presidency.
